Melvin R.
Stjernholm, MD, FACP
Dr.
Stjernholm is a board-certified specialist in
endocrinology. He is a Colorado native born in La Junta.
He received his M.D. from the University of Colorado in
1967. He completed his internship at District of
Columbia General Hospital in Washington, D.C., and
afterward served as the acting chief of medicine for the
U.S. Public Health Service Indian Hospital in Ft.
Defiance, Arizona.
In 1970, Dr. Stjernholm returned to Denver to complete
his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in
endocrinology and metabolism at the University of
Colorado Medical Center. He became board certified in
both endocrinology and internal medicine in 1975.
Dr. Stjernholm has been practicing at Boulder
Endocrinology Associates since 1981. He has a special
interest in diabetes, thyroid disease and osteoporosis.
In addition, Dr. Stjernholm is a clinical professor in
the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center. He is past-president of the
Boulder County Medical Society and state chair of the
American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
In his spare time, Dr. Stjernholm enjoys skiing, tennis,
hiking, golf and traveling. He’s actively involved in
the economic development of Third World countries
through various microenterprise projects. |
