James M. Oberwetter, MD, PhD
Dr. Oberwetter joined
Boulder Endocrinology Associates in 1994. He focuses on
treating patients with all types of endocrine disorders,
including diabetes and thyroid disease.
Dr. Oberwetter holds both a Ph.D. in cell biology and an
M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas,
where he also completed his residency in internal
medicine. In 1990, Dr. Oberwetter relocated to Denver to
complete clinical and research fellowships in
endocrinology at the University of Colorado Health
Sciences Center. By 1993, he was a board certified
physician in two medical specialties: internal medicine
and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
While working as an endocrinologist, Dr. Oberwetter went
back to the CU Health Sciences Center to complete a
residency in general psychiatry. He now serves as the
medical director for Boulder Community Hospital's
Inpatient Behavioral Health Services in addition to
practicing at Boulder Endocrinology Associates.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Oberwetter enjoys
biking, hiking, reading and swimming.
